Cornerman

When trouble is brewing, when there's a conflict on the horizon, or when you're facing a difficult challenge, who do you want in you corner? Depending on the specific situation, the answers to this may vary. Raising kids, moms & dads need to be on the same page, have  each other's back, and support each other's decisions. At work, we need our manager's support when facing a defiant coworker or a disgruntled customer.  No one enjoys conflict, but we can better prepare ourselves to handle it. In 1 Samuel, Abigail intervened after husband had made an error that could have cost him and his men their lives. She intervened humbly (by seeking forgiveness and bowing) and graciously (by offering gifts).  Her humility and kindness diffused the situation and restored order to the day. Superhero Training

For several months (until Britt told him otherwise) I had Thomas convinced that I was invincible. This may seem like a lie but to him it was real - his dad was invincible. Sadly, as we age, we begin to learn that it's not really true for any of us or our heroes. But that doesn't take away from their other superpowers. For me, my dad, though not invincible, is still my superhero. He's supported me spiritually, financially, physically, and probably in more ways than I will ever realize.  How did he get those super powers? The same way any of us do, the same way I'm trying to as a father now myself. We learn by secretly reading the instructions, by learning from our mistakes, by failing and refusing to quit, and by watching others who've done it successfully and following in their footsteps. To all the dads AKA Superheroes in Training, keep working at it. To all of us sons, you're already there...and we still secretly believe that you really are invinc
