When trouble is brewing, when there's a conflict on the horizon, or when you're facing a difficult challenge, who do you want in you corner?
Depending on the specific situation, the answers to this may vary. Raising kids, moms & dads need to be on the same page, have each other's back, and support each other's decisions. At work, we need our manager's support when facing a defiant coworker or a disgruntled customer.
No one enjoys conflict, but we can better prepare ourselves to handle it. In 1 Samuel, Abigail intervened after husband had made an error that could have cost him and his men their lives. She intervened humbly (by seeking forgiveness and bowing) and graciously (by offering gifts). Her humility and kindness diffused the situation and restored order to the day.
We may not bow & give food to an upset client or coworker, but we can approach them with humility and kindness offering to make things right between them. Maybe it's a refund, maybe it's waiving a fee, or maybe it's a cup of coffee to talk things through and get everyone on the same page.
Who's someone you would want in your corner when trouble is brewing? Better yet, how can you become someone whom others would want in theirs?
