God > Man

At what point in time did people start thinking that we are smarter than God?  So many laws coming out today are in direct opposition to scripture.  God and His Word are THE ultimate authority.  Not the House of Representatives, the Senate, or the President.  We are to respect people in roles of authority and follow them as leaders since the Lord has placed them there but ONLY if they are not being contradictory to God.  In rulings that are not in alignment with his word, we are to obey God's law over man's law. "Having brought the apostles, they made them appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest.  'We gave strict orders not to teach in this name,' he said.  'Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man's blood.'  Peter and the other apostles replied: 'We must obey God rather than men!" - Acts 5:27-29 Peter and the other apostles had been called before the courts to

Walk The Talk

I'm sure that all of us know someone who talks a good game but can't back it up.  The guy at the gym who says he can bench 300 and struggles with a much lighter weight, the guy who says he can kill a softball then can barely get it to the grass, and the Christian who points out everyone else's sins and misconducts only to be involved in some secret sinful activity of their own.  We even have the popular saying: "If you're going to talk to the talk, you've got to walk the walk."  James takes is a step further in James 2:26 - "As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead."  I am challenged every week in Sunday School to make sure that my life and actions back up the posts that I put on the internet.  I feel that this is one way that I can put my faith into action.  I am absolutely in no way perfect or anywhere near it.  I sin every day, whether it's by being angry, speaking down to someone, or even just having though

It's a Boy!

My first wish and hope for our child is that he (I can say that now) be born healthy.  I am truly excited to be having a baby boy and have someone coming along to carry on the Gregory name and to fish, hunt, workout, and play with in the years to come.  My second hope is that Brittnee and I can raise him to be a good son, possibly a good big brother one day, and a faithful man of God.  I don't know how to be a father yet.  I'm not sure that any of us ever really know how to be a perfect parent...or even that there is one perfect plan for all families that would work.  I am blessed to have a dad that raised me and my brother and sister in the church. We were raised very early on to believe that everyone went to church and that's just the way it was.  I'm thankful for that because without my Christian faith I would not have made it to where I am in life.  I'm grateful for the lessons my dad has taught me about hard work (somebody can show him my FB post from June 20

Taking Care of the Temple

"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; you were bought at a price.  Therefore honor God with your bodies" - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Everyone who knows me knows how into fitness I am.  I consider my passion for fitness to be  one of the gifts the Lord has blessed me with.  I've even been accused of being addicted to working out but I want call any names (sister).  But hey, there are plenty of worse things in the world to be addicted to so I'm good with it.  Many people started the year off with new year's resolutions  that may or may not have already begun to fade away.  The #1 resolution this past year (according to the University of Scranton, Journal of Clinical Psychology) was to Lose Weight.  Three of the top 10 resolutions involved fitness and well being, Staying Fit and Healthy & Quit Smoking were the other two.  Where are you today with your resolution?

Leave Your Legacy on the Rock

Attending funerals is hard.  Attending the funeral of someone close to your age is even harder.  I went to Bradley's funeral yesterday and it just doesn't seem right burying someone only a few years older than you.  He and I were not very close but we had many mutual friends.  I've never gone to a funeral expecting to be inspired but I actually thought that both preachers did a wonderful job of doing just that and showing the importance of making the decision to follow Jesus Christ as your lord and savior.  One of the preachers used the comparison of deciding to follow Christ as being your opportunity to make the game winning shot in a basketball game.  While that's a great analogy, the flip side of that is that while in basketball you have a chance to call timeout with seconds to go to draw up a play to get your best scorer the ball; we don't have that luxury in life.  There are no timeouts, there are no overtimes, we have to make the most of what we have now.  W
