Let's Go Fishing

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” – Matthew 4:19 Three Things We Really Need to Know About Fishing 1)       You don’t determine if a fish is good enough when you throw in the line.   You just want to catch something.   -     On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.   I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” – Mark 2:17 -           I think of the popular phrase “preaching to the choir”.   How often do we minister to the people just like us?   We are more comfortable approaching people at church or similar to us but we are called to try to win ALL souls to God and make a difference everywhere, not just in our own little comfort zone.  It's called OUTreach...not inreach for a reason. 2)       You don’t have to be a professional to be able to fish. -           As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and makin

Hands

A basketball in my hands is worth about $19. A basketball in LeBron James's hands is worth about $33 million. It depends whose hands it's in. A baseball in my hands with worth about $6. A baseball in Felix Hernandez' hands is worth $275 million. It depends whose hands it's in. A tennis racket is useless in my hands. A tennis racket in Andy Murray's hands is worth millions. It depends whose hands it's in. A rod in my hands will keep away an angry dog. A rod in Moses' hands will part the mighty sea. It depends whose hands it's in. A slingshot in my hands is a kid's toy. A slingshot in David's hands is a mighty weapon. It depends whose hands it's in. Two fish and five loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches. Two fish and five loaves of bread in Jesus' hands will feed thousands. It depends whose hands it's in. Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse. Nails in Jesus Christ's hands will pr

Clemson Can't Be #1

Dear Freedom From Religion Foundation, I would like to make a few points, who knows, I may even mail y'all a letter in Wisconsin since you clearly are capable of mailing letters to the good ole state of South Carolina.  If I was going to attack a public university, let's say Clemson for example, about them possibly violating constitutional rights and not having a separation of church and state I would really try to make sure I knew what I was talking about first.  1)  The First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."  That's pretty plain and simple if you read the entire sentence, people are free to choose their own religious beliefs and to exercise them as they see fit as long as they do so in a peaceable manner. 1a)  The phrase "separation of church and state" does not appear in The Constitution.  It's believed to have first been used by Thomas Jef

My Version of Easter

Our timing and other Easter traditions are based on pagan rituals and mainly derived from the fertility goddess names Eostre.  Christian missionaries in Europe used pagan rituals and the timing to sort of morph their holiday into our Christian celebration today.  By using activities the people were already comfortable with, it allowed them to be a witness thru familiar activities and opened doors for communication.  Hunting eggs can be traced back to the Greeks and Egyptians who saw eggs as a sign of fertility and new life.  They used the eggs in pagan celebrations and even hung them up in the temples.  Christians again used this activity to relate and minister to people as certain colors were used to spread the Word; yellow for the resurrection, blue for love, and red for the blood of Jesus Christ.  The Easter Bunny comes from a German story of a woman who hid Easter eggs in her garden as treats.  And one year as her children were searching for the eggs a rabbit happened to hop by

My Freedom

The USA was founded as being the land of the free.  But today many of our freedoms have been taken away. One of them being the Freedom OF Religion.  Yes, I am a Christian and have chosen to follow Jesus Christ, I can give you numerous reasons why in a separate post if you would like.  The 1st Amendment in the Bill of Rights states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."  So if I understand this correctly, it means that each and every individual has the right to use their free will to choose what religion, if any, they want to follow.  Well freedom OF does not mean freedom FROM.  If I am forced to not speak about God or his son Jesus, what would that be?  It's not freedom.  It would be atheism.  You see, no God is a religion, not freedom of it so let's get that point clear quickly. Let's go to what children are being taught in schools, "Evolution is scientific - Creationism is r
