I know everyone who looks at this isn't super tech savvy (Dad) but I use the Bible App for my phone for a verse of the day and I try to write something short on FB when it's something that seems enlightening to me, so I may have some shorter posts on here...so hopefully no one minds.
Verse of the Day: "When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say." - Acts 4:13-14
There was nothing "super" about Peter and John. They were not scholars, physical specimens, or gods. They were ordinary men. And what made the Sanhedrin Council realize that there was something special about them was 2 things: 1) They had been with Jesus. 2) Their actions.
It was different for Peter and John, they were literally walking with Jesus, but when people see you today, can they tell that you're walking with Jesus? Are you in the Bible so much that verses and biblical teachings just become a part of your way of thinking and many conversations? Are you praying daily, or better yet constantly in prayer? I read the Bible and pray daily. I don't do it as much as I should and as well as I should so I am practicing at prayer, that's the only way I know to get better at something.
In chapter 3 of Acts, Peter and John had just healed a man who had been crippled his entire life. I doubt any of us are performing miracles like this today but do our actions and our talk make people realize that we are Christians? We all look good on Sunday mornings (hopefully) when we go to church and talk nicely to everyone. But who are you Monday thru Saturday? Are we showing compassion to those in need? Are we loving those around us and loving God the way we should? Actions speak louder than words but make sure you apply this to the words you use as well because what we say is often times a good indicator of our thoughts. Right or wrong, and whether we like it or not, we are judged by our actions, make sure yours say that you are walking with Jesus.
It doesn't take much for God to use us, we don't have to have every verse of the bible memorized, or attend seminary for God to use us, we just have to be willing to follow him. And who knows, maybe he will make us into miracle workers.
