Equality or MEquality?

I just read an article that the democratic party is pushing for a bill named Equality Act of 2015.  Now since the bill is named equality, one would have to infer that all people would be covered under such a bill.  I mean after all, that's fair and equal.  With that being said, how many democrats, and how many Americans, support the equal treatment of those mentioned here:  "Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God." - 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

Democrats, if you're going to be equal, you can't leave anyone out.  So do you really want sexually impure, STD ridden, multiple children by multiple partner, possible bestiality practicing people; idolizers; people who cheat on their spouses; thieves and crooks; money hungry greedy people; drunks; partiers; and cheats to be included in your homosexual equality bill?  Or are you going to leave those people out?  Uh oh, what happened to being inclusive?  What happened to choose love?  It seems like if someone cannot be of a benefit to you that you have no use for them or their cause.  Whether that benefit is money, votes, power, sex, or any other number of things.

But I've got a friend who will hang out with anybody and loves everybody.  In Mark 2, Jesus is eating dinner with many tax collectors and sinners.  The Pharisees (who hated Jesus and wanted to find fault in him) asked what in the world is he doing with all these sinners if he's supposed to be a good person?  Jesus heard them and answered "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.  I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."

You see, Jesus came to save everyone, he didn't pick and choose based on who could give him more power if he helped them.  I'm thankful that he came for all sinners, including me.  I have been saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8)!  The verse goes on to say that salvation is not of my own doing but is a gift of God.  There is not a politician or political party that can pull the United States of America out of the tailspin of moral and socio-economical decline that we are in.  But just like my sin that I could not shake off under my own power; there is someone who can turn this once great nation of ours around and that person is Jesus Christ.  If you want hate, disrespect, murder, adultery, theft, lying, and greed to become less rampant in our world then put the Ten Commandments back up.  Post them in offices, schools, roadways, everywhere as a reminder of how God originally wanted his creation to live.

Christians, we must take a stand against anyone and anything who stands against God.  It's that simple.  If someone cannot support what they stand for, whether it's political or whatever, with scripture from the Holy Bible then I will not stand for it.  My faith requires me to stand up for what I believe even if that means standing against or alienating friends.

As I read back thru this post I'm not real sure how I went from an equality bill to taking a stand on faith but God works in mysterious ways.  I was getting sleepy but when He started talking and saying turn here, turn there, read this, I figured I better listen.  My original targeted point was that there are a lot of people today using the word equality when if you really look into what they're after it's MEquality.  They are really thinking, what can I do or say that is going to benefit me in the end?  Changing laws is not the answer, changing hearts is the answer.  And that's not done thru legislation, it's done thru faith.

2020 is Hindsight...Finally!

Wow, what a year! 2020 could literally be an entire decade, maybe more, of history, change, and lessons rolled up into these twelve months. While many aspects of 2020 were kind of sucky and we would like to forget them, it will certainly be a year to remember. And it will be enlightening when this year is looked back on in 10, 25, or 50 years to be discussed. I wonder if we'll seem like geniuses or idiots? Probably both to some extent! While there is so much that I could consider and analyze about this year, I'll try to break some of it down into four dimensions - Physical, Spiritual, Mental, and Social/Emotional. These are events and happenings from my world and perspective and I'm trying to be open in sharing and would love to hear from others on events you found most transforming. Physical When COVID cause gyms to close, that messed me up. Our town and state were late to be hit with severe cases and therefore later than many across the country to close up shop. I'm n...

How to Pray - The Object of Our Prayer

In our College & Career Sunday school class this week, we started a series titled, "How to Pray."  I plan to try to and share the lessons each week in case anyone wants to follow along with us here...or you can come join us Sunday mornings at Tabernacle at 10 AM in room 218. Any good speaker, teacher, or presenter knows that the #1 rule of public speaking is to know your audience.  You don't want to prepare a discussion about retirement for preschoolers and a presentation themed with Disney princesses most likely wouldn't spark the interest of a group of businessmen.  In order for someone to prepare a dynamic and engaging presentation, they must know their audience, who they're preparing to talk to. The same is true in our prayer life.  The Point of this week's study is: "A right view of God fuels how we pray."  The conversations we engage in with our friends about are often focused on topics that interest them: their favorite team, favorite ...

Lessons in Prayer - 1 Timothy 2:1-8 - Our Attitudes

I'm still working through this same passage on prayer from 1 Timothy and I won't copy all the verses but you can read from the beginning to have a better understanding of the full passage. "...That we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.  This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior." - 1 Timothy 2:2b-3 Paul's plea for Timothy here is for the church to live peaceful and quiet lives.  So how do we do that?  Well the thought of peacefulness is a life that is free from internal disturbances or distractions.  We must first be at peace with ourselves before we can be at peace with others.  A quiet life is one that flows from being peaceful and is a life free from external disturbances and distractions.  Now this does not mean that the church is to just go along with whatever the world says in order to be peaceful.  We are not to waver on biblical truth period.  You won't find true Christian...
